Keith Usher — Elder
Keith grew up in Maryland and has lived in Frederick since 1995. He and his wife Sandy have 5 sons, 2 daughters-in-law and are proud new grandparents to a grandson as of July 2017. Keith works for Leidos as a Program Manager. He has been serving as an Elder at NDC since 2010. He can be found doing a variety of things at church on Sunday morning, from the sound booth to a stand-in for childcare in the nursery. He enjoys biking, being outside and watching Netflix with his wife. A long-standing tradition in his family is to attend the Little League World Series. He can often be recognized by the Cherry Slushie or Large Cherry Coke fountain drink in a Wawa cup in his hand. A motto Keith is known for is “We are going to have fun, no matter what!”
Larry Lindsey — Elder
Larry and his wife Helen have lived in Frederick with their 2 sons since 2003. Larry works for K & B Restoration and is part owner of the Flood Department portion of the company. He has been serving as an Elder at NDC since 2015. He can be seen mowing the church lawn or fixing a variety of things around the building. You will recognize him on Sunday mornings by the children gathered around him trying to get him to sneak them a donut. He is also often seen holding one of Pastor Rob and Heather’s children while they nap during service! Larry enjoys hunting and is happiest sitting in a tree stand enjoying the quiet. Larry and Helen are well known for their hospitality. He is a Pittsburg Steelers and Penguins fan. He also enjoys watching MMA fights with his sons.
Vickie Hoover – Church Secretary
Vickie has been going to church here since 2009. She attended youth group when Pastor Rob was the youth pastor, and when she graduated High School, she became involved again as a leader. Over the years since she graduated she has discovered a lot about herself and God’s calling on her life. She currently lives in Downtown Frederick with her sister, works for Old Navy in Clarksburg, is a Deaconess, a teacher’s assistant for The Deisgner’s Kids Club on Sunday mornings and volunteers her spare time to work in the office at NDC. She is an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, roots for Penn State and loves country music.
Jon O’Neal – Worship Team Leader
Born and raised in Frederick, Maryland, Jon thrives on live production and has worked at the Weinberg Center for the Arts for the last 10 years as a Live Sound Engineer. When Jon does his job well at the Weinberg, he disappears into the background and the show takes center stage. His goal during worship is that he may fade into the background while Jesus is the main focus. Jon has been leading worship since he was in high school. Jon loves music, movies, and is a recreational gamer, playing board games and video games with anyone who is willing.
Mari Lynn Stalnaker – The Designer’s Kids Director
Having lived in Frederick County her entire life, Mari Lynn has been a dedicated teacher in Frederick County Public Schools for more than 25 years. She holds a BA in Elementary/Middle School Education, and an MS in Educational Leadership. Mari Lynn has been a member of EAC for over 20 years and in those years she has used her teaching gifts to nurture and lead a variety of age levels and ministries. She also had the pleasure to serve as the church pianist for many years. Currently Mari Lynn is leading Designer’s Kids Children’s Ministry and is prayerfully seeking guidance to help the ministry grow and reach the community.
Outside of school and church Mari Lynn is kept busy with family. Her oldest son, Joshua, recently graduated from Union University in Tennessee and is currently the Family Pastor at Mercy Baptist Church in Weirton, WV. Her other son, Jacob, is a student at Liberty University in Virginia and can be seen helping around NDC when he is home on breaks. Her husband, Paul, is a chef and area general manager with Sodexo. Paul and Mari Lynn have served the NDC family together for many years. At home they have several cats, and a rescued beagle named Jazzy that helps fill the empty nest! In her spare time, Mari Lynn loves being outside walking the dog and gardening.
Toni Schleimer – Connection Team Leader
Toni and her husband Neal are originally from Westchester, N.Y. They moved to the Frederick area in 2001 but most recently moved to downtown Frederick. They have two daughters: Meghan, who lives in Greenville N.C. with her husband, Alex, and Karin, who is newly engaged to Kyle. Toni works at Urbana High with Special Ed and at the Arc of Frederick. She’s a mentor with YoungLives in Frederick which supports teen moms. Since moving downtown they were looking for a church closer to home and to be part of that community. When they visited Emmanuel Alliance Church they knew it was a great fit. Toni loves meeting new people and reaching out to them. She wants them to feel right at home and welcomed by the church they will worship at. She is part of the connection team serving coffee and attending to visitors. Toni loves the beach, coffee, biking with Neal and exploring downtown Frederick.
Leslie Sullam – Hospitality Coordinator
Leslie and her husband Ken are originally from Long Island, New York. After retirement, they moved to Frederick, MD from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. to be closer to her two daughters and sister. She worked as Office Manager for an Environmental Engineering firm. Leslie has always been active in Church and various organizations. Being a Girl Scout leader for many years, was a highlight to her. She volunteers in her Senior Development and has a love for animals, especially her two Jack Russell terriers. The beautiful landscapes of Maryland have her exploring all the history that Frederick and surrounding areas offer. Being the Hospitality Coordinator at NDC is a spot-on match. After searching for a Church home, Leslie says, New Design Church became a perfect fit for her! Leslie greatly enjoys meeting new people and helping to coordinate social events.
Joel Horst – Webmaster
Joel grew up on his family’s farm in central Maryland. In 2017, he moved to Frederick and has attended New Design Church ever since. He works as a transportation manager for Rainforest Distribution, overseeing the distribution of organic and natural foods throughout Maryland, Virginia, DC, and Pennsylvania. He enjoys anything electronic, is interested in filmmaking, and sings on the worship team. He likes to joke that if you unwound his DNA, you would find five lines with music notes instead of the usual DNA helix! Since creating his first website at age nine, Joel has designed and administered a number of websites, and he’s happy to use the gift that God has given him to run the NDC site.
